CISAC and Colombian Member SAYCO Sign Cooperation Agreement with Ministry of Interior of Colombia
On 14 December, the Minister of Interior of Colombia Juan Fernando Cristo and the Copyright Office CEO Giancarlo Marcenaro signed a cooperation agreement with CISAC and with Colombian collective management organisation Sociedad de Autores y Compositores de Colombia (SAYCO). The agreement aims at improving and consolidating SAYCO's operational capabilities in the legal, administrative, financial and accounting areas. It will help SAYCO implement best practices in terms of transparency, effectiveness, efficiency and good governance.
More specifically, the agreement will strengthen SAYCO's operations in terms of:
- Processes for Members: Incorporation of members in accordance to Colombian law, whether physical or legal persons, or foreign companies; entry of documentation and information of Members; Registration of uses and distribution of rights with strict adherence to the provisions of Colombian legislation; efficient and reliable payment of rights in adherence to manuals of distribution and tracking; assistance and services for Members;
- Processes for Users: Assistance and services for users; entries of users; design and development of fees and licenses; licensing; collection; prior- to judicial recovery of debts and judicial recovery of debts , control of uses of repertoire;
- Support Processes: Administrative, accounting, legal, financial processes; information systems; acquisitions; selection and evaluation of suppliers; infrastructure maintenance; external services; communications; market studies and assimilated; legal advisory; services related to international management;
- Adaptation to Professional Rules and Binding Resolutions of CISAC: Support for the implementation of the plan to adapt to CISAC's Professional Rules, which are defined and agreed with SAYCO, in the context of the objectives of this agreement;
Mr Juan Fernando Cristo reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that SAYCO operates transparently and efficiently, to the benefit of authors and composers of Colombia and around the world.
