To drive awareness and education worldwide, CISAC has developed a massive open online course (MOOC) to allow the greatest number of people to have access to information related to the rights and protections of creators and the creative sector. The CISAC MOOC courses are built upon over 90 years of expertise in authors’ rights, taught by leading global experts and reflective of the high standards established and enforced throughout the confederation and its member societies.

CISAC has partnered with FutureLearn, the online platform of the Open University UK, to create this opportunity. To participate in available courses, please visit FutureLearn to register and enroll in upcoming sessions.

The first MOOC is titled “Exploring Copyright: History, Culture, Industry”. The objective of this MOOC is to introduce the general public, creators, professionals and decision makers to the importance of copyright and its history from the Renaissance to the Internet. It explores the following questions:

  • How does a composer or writer make a living?
  • How have inventions or key events in history created a marketplace and industry for cultural goods?

You can participate in “Exploring Copyright: History, Culture, Industry” by enrolling here on FutureLearn.
