Monthly distribution of authors’ rights from digital music platforms

SGAE makes monthly distributions of revenues received from digital music platforms. In addition to this, SGAE monthly distributions also include revenues from performing arts and major live concerts (i.e., concerts with box office income exceeding 200,000 euros, where 60% of the setlist is written/composed by the performing artist).

SGAE distributes other types of collections on a quarterly basis. These include digital rights from video on demand platforms, revenues arising from the use of works in radio and television broadcasts, concerts and other live performances, discotheques and music bars, background music, cinemas, television in public venues, private copying and sale of phonograms and video carriers. Additionally, rights arising from claim resolutions, work identifications from unidentified works logs, along with international collections of SGAE repertoire, are paid out in March, June, September, and December.

According to the data shown in the Global Collections Report 2023, issued by the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC), SGAE is the ninth-largest CMO in the world. SGAE, Spain's leading collective management society, is a member of CISAC, an umbrella organization that encompasses 228 collective management societies from 119 countries. These societies protect the rights of more than 4 million creators from all geographic areas and all artistic repertoires. SGAE currently holds 314 representation agreements with 175 collective management societies in more than 221 countries worldwide.
