CISAC Welcomes the Appointment of Laurent Contini as Head of Mission for Collective Management and Authors’ Rights in Africa

Paris, France – 24 July 2015. CISAC, the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers, welcomes the appointment by the French government and Quai d’Orsay (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) of Mr Laurent Contini as Head of Mission for Collective Management and Authors’ Rights in Africa.

Mr Contini, a Foreign Affairs Advisor, former French Ambassador in New Zealand, Rwanda and Zimbabwe, and former collaborator of Minister Bernard Kouchner at Quai d’Orsay, was appointed Head of Mission on the French model of authors’ rights and collective management in Africa, for the Directorate-General of Globalization, Development and Partnerships of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development. 

Referring to his appointment, Mr Gadi Oron, CISAC Director General, said: 

We are delighted with the French government’s decision to appoint Ambassador Contini as its representative for the promotion of collective management and authors’ rights in Africa. This mission is of major importance for culture, cultural diversity and the development of cultural and creative industries all over the world.
