In Memoriam: Yukihiko Okada

The world of authors’ rights has sadly lost JASPAR ex-Representatives Managing Director Yukihiko Okada, one of the key figures in the promotion of visual artists’ rights in Japan. 

For over 65 years, Yukihiko Okada was dedicated to the administration of artists’ rights and a fundamental contributor to establishing visual artists’ rights in Japan. He supported the campaign seeking to bring resale right to Japan. In February 2017, Mr Okada participated in a Waseda University and CISAC panel discussion to advocate for introducing the right. 

Along with being engaged with JASPAR, Mr Okada was also active with the Bureau des Copyrights Français (BCF) and the Société pour la Protection des Droits Artistiques (SPDA).
