SCD Elects New Board of Directors

The new SCD (Sociedad Chilena del derecho de Autor) Board of Directors was defined on 10 June, and the renowned musician Álvaro Scaramelli was appointed President. 

After the election process, which ended on 13 May, six new authors were included in the Society’s Board, joining other four members who remained in their positions. 

Today, SCD’s Board of Directors is composed by the following members:

Alvaro Scaramelli (President)

Author, composer, popular music performer, and music producer, with 30 years of artistic career. He is founding member of SCD, and before becoming President, he was member of the Board for two periods. 

Mario Rojas (First Vice President)

Author, composer, guitarist, producer, performer, and promoter of Chilean popular urban music. He has had outstanding participations at the Viña del Mar Song Festival and the Festival del Huaso in Olmué.  

Horacio Salinas (Second Vice President)

Music and folk song composer, music composer for films, classical guitar, and symphony orchestra. Music Director for Inti-Illimani (between1967 and 2001), and Music Director for Inti-Illimani Histórico since 2004. 

Valentín Trujillo (Secretary General)

Pianist, arranger, and orchestra director. He was elected Key Figure in Chilean Music by SCD in 1994, and received the Lifetime Achievement Award, granted by the Chilean Government, in 2000. In 2002, the “Valentín Trujillo Scholarship” was established for students of limited resources and musical abilities.

René Calderon (Director)

Orchestra director, music producer and arranger. He has participated in Chile’s most important orchestras. In 1992, he was appointed orchestra director at the Viña del Mar Festival, and held that position for 12 years. Furthermore, he was orchestra director at the OTI Festival and the El Cairo Festival on several occasions.  

Soledad del Río (Director)

Composer, singer and actress. Currently, she is the leader, vocalist and composer of La Guacha Group. She has represented Chile in various international festivals and music markets, such as Bafim, in Buenos Aires, Circulart, in Medellín, and SXSW, in Austin, Texas (USA).

Alejandro González (Director)

Chilean musician, composer, producer, and music director. His artistic career spans 16 years over which he has collaborated with renowned national and international artists, such as José Luis Rodríguez, José Feliciano, Soledad Pastorutti, and DJ Méndez, among others.

Héctor “Titín” Molina (Director)

Author, composer, and performer of popular and folk music. He is investigator of native cultures. He is a Doctor of the Salamanca University, and holds a Master’s degree in Political Philosophy, and a Magister in History. He is member of the National Culture Commission, and academic member at Santiago University (USACH).

Florcita Motuda (Director)

The artistic life of this renowned national musician has been characterized by the development of an experimental and extravagant work, capable of cultivating various styles. His awards include Best Performer at the Viña del Mar Festival, in 1977, and First Place at the OTI Festival, in 1998. 

Patricio Salazar (Director)

Learned drummer and percussionist with a long career. He has collaborated with artists such as Buddy Richard, Gloria Simonetti and Myriam Hernández. He has participated in the Chilean Symphony Orchestra, the Buenos Aires SymphonyOrchestra (Argentine), and the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas, based in Mexico City.
