SACEM and SEPM create first CMO for press publishers neighbouring right
SACEM and the French magazine publishers’ group SEPM have entered into an agreement to establish the first collective management organisation for press neighbouring rights in France. The historic achievement is the latest result from the EU Copyright Directive. It seeks to hold platforms that are exploiting online press articles accountable.
The establishment of the CMO is underway with the objective to allow beneficiaries of the press related right to opt for collective management of their right.
The agreement allows SEPM to learn from SACEM’s expertise in collective management of rights to manage its members’ publications. SEPM groups over 80 publishing companies.
