ASDACS press release: ASDACS royalty income reaches a record of $1.1 million AU

Gross total 2016 collection income: $1,130,181 AU.

The Australian Screen Directors Authorship Collecting Society Ltd (ASDACS) has seen an average growth rate of 22% in income over the past 2 years, predominately due to an expansion in collection society partnerships, a rise in domestic income and reinstatement of collection partnership income.

Commenting on the increase, ASDACS Chair, Stephen Wallace stated:

‘ASDACS has experienced excellent growth in the last 2 years and we’re pleased to see positive results from efforts made to increase registrations and expand internationally; more importantly we’re heartened to see an increase in domestic income flowing back to directors. The increases are largely thanks to the diligence and hard work of our executive team and staff.’

Key results:

• International growth: $1,112,132 AU total 2016 income; up from $957,042 AU in 2015, representing a 16% increase (with a total $758,891 AU collected in 2014).
• An additional 10 new international partnerships over 2 years; resulting in a combined 2015-16 total of $78,799 AU collected from 6 new international partners.
• Reinstatement of $157,496 AU international income in 2015 from 2 international collection partners (continued in 2016, with $192,209 AU collected).
• Further reinstatement of $25,269 AU international income in 2016 from 3 international collection partners.
• Domestic growth: $18,049 AU of Screen rights income collected in 2016, up from $1,782 AU in 2015 representing an almost ten-fold increase - 913% (with a total $721 AU collected in 2014).
