Fair remuneration is a must for the future of creators and creativity in the Digital Single Market, according to a worldwide group of writers, directors and other authors across the audiovisual, drama and literature artistic fields.

The Society of Audiovisual Authors (SAA) and Writers & Directors Worldwide (W&DW) today called on the European Commission to keep creators on top of mind as it moves forward on the planned copyright reform in Europe.

Writers, film and TV directors, screenwriters and other AV creators gathered at the Writers & Directors Worldwide Executive Committee Meeting in Brussels to discuss a number of key topics, including the importance of creators in the future success of the proposed Digital Single Market (DSM).

The meeting was held ahead of the European Commission's planned copyright reform, with a draft of the upcoming legislation set to be published by the end of 2015.
