On 21-22 April 2026, CISAC organised a Distribution Training for its member societies in the Asia-Pacific region. Held in Singapore, the two-day training session focused on improving royalty distribution practices across general licensing, broadcasting and Over-The-Top (OTT) services, the management of Unidentified Performances (UP), and the use of CIS-Net tools.

It brought together societies to exchange practical approaches and align on operational standards.

The sessions addressed broadcasting and OTT distribution, including census versus sampling methods, TV monitoring, and the use of music recognition technology providers. Participants also examined revenue allocation from retransmitted channels, cross-society distribution practices, and the retrieval of cue sheets via CIS-Net. Discussions on UP (Unidentified Performances) covered list exchanges, formats, frequency and alignment with CISAC Binding Resolutions.

A specific session on the IPI system and the new Unicode functionality highlighted the importance of local and accurate creator data.

In the field of background music licensing, participants explored how data from music service providers, monitoring technologies and sampling methodologies could be combined to enhance distribution accuracy.
