CISAC publishes February 2024 edition of Latin America and the Caribbean newsletter

CISAC’s regional office for Latin America and the Caribbean has published its latest newsletter. It outlines the main activities and priorities of the regional office and key projects of member societies in the region.

An article on the “Música en la balanza” event in Mexico reports on female composers and music authors joining with women working in judicial administration to support gender equity. 

The newsletter provides updates on recent activities including promoting right to remuneration for audiovisual authors in Venezuela, meetings on AI’s impact on creators’ rights, the CLC Regional Legal Commission meeting in Santiago, and CIAM’s General Assembly in Rio de Janeiro. An overview of recent regional legislative updates and societies’ actions are detailed in the newsletter.

The newsletter discusses a meeting at SACM among music creators and government officials to discuss copyright, human rights, compliance, and justice for women. 

It also highlights the role of women in the Chilean audiovisual sector, including a focus on ATN President Daniella Castagno.
