CISAC President Jarre Speaks Out on Streaming

20160304 Jarre Envoye Special ITW

Jean-Michel Jarre spoke out for creators this week in a special segment on the France2 national TV channel. Speaking on the prime time “Envoyé Spécial” programme, the CISAC President tackled the debate on music streaming and explained how the tiny remuneration from this distribution system means that songwriting doesn’t enable artists to make a living anymore.

As an electronic music pioneer, Jarre has a reputation for being at the forefront of new technologies when it comes to creation, so his views on streaming as a sustainable industry holds particular weight.

If we cannot live by writing songs, there’s a whole new business model that we need to invent and create," he said.
