A delegation from the National Copyright Administration of China (NCAC) met with representatives from CISAC and Spanish society members of the confederation on 26 September. Hosted by SGAE, the Chinese delegation came in order to learn more about the regulation of resale right as well as what CISAC’s activities, in conjunction with EVA and GESAC, are in order to encourage universal adoption of the resale right for visual artists. VEGAP Director General and CISAC Vice-Chairperson Javier Gutiérrez Vicén presented this right, as well as responded to questions that the NCAC may have had. The visit was also the opportunity for NCAC to learn about SGAE as well as collective management in Spain.

Resale right is currently being proposed in a new amendment in Chinese legislation. CISAC has been working closely with the Chinese government, including a CISAC delegation meeting with the Legislative Committee of the National People’s Congress of China in December 2016, to encourage the country to consider adopting the right as well as proposing recommendations to the government.
