Ron Solleveld, SVP International, Announces his Retirement from BMI

All Employee Note Sent by Mike O’Neill, BMI President & CEO, on February 9, 2015:

Today I have some bittersweet news to share.  Ron Solleveld, our Senior Vice President, International, will retire from BMI in September.

Ron first approached me a little over a year ago about this decision, and we’ve had many conversations since then about how to best handle his transition amid the changing dynamics in the global marketplace.  While I am happy that he and his wife Pam are ready to begin this exciting new chapter, I know I speak on behalf of everyone at BMI when I say that he will be sorely missed.

Ron has been a remarkable leader in the international music rights management arena. His strength in building and sustaining relationships with our extensive network of sister societies has led to significant contributions in the lives of hundreds of thousands of songwriters at home and around the world.  Since joining BMI in June 2002, Ron has significantly grown our International presence and more than doubled BMI’s International revenue, which increased from $134 million to $307 million during his tenure.

All of us at BMI are grateful for Ron’s exceptional service and invaluable impact in promoting the global value of music and ensuring creators are fairly and accurately compensated wherever their music is played. We are also grateful for Ron as a friend and colleague.  His humor, his gentle nature and his unwavering support of the BMI team have all left an indelible mark.

Ron will continue to provide support to BMI through the end of September, so there will be plenty of time to celebrate his accomplishments.  For now, please join me in congratulating Ron on his exceptional tenure and tremendous work on behalf of our company.

We will announce a successor to Ron at a later date.
