El nuevo y mejorado identificador de obras musicales ayudará a los creadores en el importantísimo mercado digital
París - 24 de septiembre de 2020 – Los creadores de música pueden beneficiarse de la nueva tecnología mejorada que les ayudará a rastrear mejor sus trabajos y a recibir una remuneración más rápidamente en el ámbito cada vez más importante del streaming de música.
Un proyecto de dos años para modernizar el sistema mundial ISWC, el código único que identifica las obras musicales y ayuda a remunerar a sus creadores y editores, ha sido terminado y hoy se lanza oficialmente por la CISAC, la Confederación Internacional de Sociedades de Autores y Compositores.
El nuevo sistema, actualizado por la CISAC por primera vez en 15 años, mejorará la precisión, la velocidad y la eficiencia del trabajo de las sociedades en la trazabilidad de las obras de los creadores y el pago de regalías. Ayudará a las sociedades y editores de música a administrar los miles de millones de transacciones de datos generadas por el crecimiento del streaming de música.
La actualización llega en un momento crucial cuando los compositores de todo el mundo han visto el colapso de sus fuentes de ingresos tradicionales, especialmente de conciertos en vivo y presentaciones públicas.
Tras una “transición” que comenzó en julio pasado, más de 100 sociedades de autores ya han migrado al nuevo sistema. El desarrollo del sistema, encargado por la CISAC a Spanish Point Technologies en enero de 2018, cuenta con el respaldo de empresas y organizaciones de la comunidad de gestión colectiva, editorial y de servicios digitales.
El nuevo sistema ISWC también será implementado próximamente para que lo utilicen la comunidad editorial y las plataformas de distribución de música digital.
El presidente de la CISAC, Björn Ulvaeus, dijo: “La actualización del ISWC no podría llegar en un momento más oportuno para los autores y compositores, que ahora dependen más que nunca de los ingresos digitales para su sustento. El ISWC es uno de los identificadores más importantes en la industria de la música y estoy encantado de que la actualización ya esté terminada y esté siendo implementada en todo el sector. Facilitará el rastreo de las obras musicales mejor y más rápido, y ayudará a poner más dinero más rápidamente en los bolsillos de los creadores. La clave ahora es asegurarse de que el sistema realmente se vuelva mundial; debe aplicarse universalmente para brindar las recompensas potenciales que les ofrece a todos los agentes”.
El nuevo sistema ISWC mejorará el flujo de información entre sociedades, editores y plataformas, ayudando a mantenerse al día con la explosión del streaming de música. Las recaudaciones de las sociedades de la CISAC respecto a la música digital aumentaron de un 27% en 2019 hasta los 2.100 millones de euros y casi se han triplicado en los últimos cinco años. Durante los últimos 15 años, se han asignado más de 50 millones de códigos ISWC a obras musicales.
El nuevo sistema ISWC aporta beneficios clave a las sociedades:
- Mayor fiabilidad. Los códigos serán asignados de forma centralizada, por la CISAC, para evitar duplicaciones y errores. El nuevo sistema pondrá fin a la práctica actual de asignación de códigos ISWC por sociedades individuales, una práctica que conlleva muchos desafíos en cuanto a la integridad de datos se refiere. La asignación central garantizará que cada obra musical sólo reciba un código único.
- Más velocidad. El nuevo sistema reduce drásticamente el tiempo necesario para asignar los ISWC. A diferencia de la situación actual, cuando la atribución a menudo se retrasa por la necesidad de completar el registro de una obra, los ISWC estarán disponibles casi al instante. Los códigos estarán listos para su uso por parte de todos los participantes en la cadena comercial (editores, subeditores, servicios digitales) pocas horas después del lanzamiento de la obra, para que una obra utilizada en Spotify, Amazon, Apple Music o cualquier otro servicio pueda ser monetizada sin demora.
- Mayor eficiencia. Más remuneración para los creadores. El nuevo sistema del ISWC elimina la fricción del proceso de licencia digital, reduce costes y aporta más valor. El sistema de asignación completamente automatizado y funcional ahorrará tiempo y recursos a las sociedades y aportará más remuneración a los creadores que ellas representan.
